Hormone Pellets
Hormone support based on your symptoms, blood work and clinical history, with pellet therapy offered when it is appropriate for you.
Hormone Pellets, explained.
Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy uses hormones your body recognizes as similar to its own. The goal is to restore balance and improve the symptoms tied to a clinically identified hormone need.
Pellet therapy places small, biodegradable, rice-sized pellets under the skin, where they deliver hormones directly into the bloodstream throughout the day.
Pellets can deliver bioidentical hormones for up to six months in men and four months in women. This provides a steadier delivery option for people who have experienced fluctuations with creams or shots.
It begins with blood work. A provider reviews your results before discussing the hormone options that fit your history and goals.
Who this is for.
- Women with tiredness, low motivation, mood swings, anxiety, depression, insomnia, decreased libido, brain fog, vaginal dryness, belly-fat gain, joint pain, hot flashes or night sweats.
- Men with tiredness, low motivation, decreased muscle mass, weight gain, low sex drive, erectile changes, joint pain, irritability, mood changes, brain fog or insomnia.
- People who want a personalized plan with clear baseline markers and ongoing monitoring.
- People who have used creams or shots and want to discuss a steadier delivery option.
Who this is not for.
- Anyone with a current or past hormone-sensitive cancer, including breast or prostate cancer, without oncology clearance.
- Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive.
- Men who want to preserve fertility in the near term, since exogenous testosterone suppresses sperm production.
- Anyone with untreated sleep apnea, polycythemia or uncontrolled cardiovascular disease until that is managed.
- Anyone unwilling to return for follow-up labs. We do not prescribe hormones without monitoring.
What to expect with hormone pellets.
1
Blood draw and review
Your first visit
A small blood sample establishes your baseline so a provider can connect your symptoms and goals with your current hormone levels.
2
Hormone options
Same appointment when appropriate
Based on your blood results, the provider discusses hormone options that may be able to begin that day.
3
Insertion
About 15 minutes
The site is numbed, the pellet is placed under the skin, and the small incision is closed with a strip. The insertion itself takes about five minutes.
4
First week
Activity limits
Expect basic aftercare and temporary limits on swimming, hot tubs and heavy lower-body lifting while the site heals.
5
Follow-up
Set by your provider
Levels and symptoms are monitored so the next dose can be adjusted from your results and response.
6
Re-insertion
Every 3 to 5 months
Women often re-dose around three to four months, and men around four to five months, based on lab results and symptom return.
